The Alps are being cleaned
In that way, 30.000 to 40.000 liters of waste are cleanded up in Styria alone. On the initiative of the Österreichische Alpenschutzverband and its Alpine Clubs, over 50 volunteers in the whole of Austria take part in the waste collection campaign.
In Styria, the region Ursprungsalm-Giglachseen in the Schladminger Tauern, the Tauplitzalm and the Tote Gebirge with the Wildenseealm are on the agenda from July 31st to August 4th. The campaign is supported by Provicial Environment Minister Ing. Manfred Wegscheider, HR Johannes Zebinger from the Province of Styria as well as by the Austrian Ministry for Life, the Umweltdachverband (umbrella organization for environmental issues), local authorities and sponsors. The "little red people" ("Heinzelmännchen") of Saubermacher play an active part in the campaign.
The "little volunteers" busily collected waste despite the bad weather so as to tidy up the Alps with a view to a nicer environment.
