Environmental Scholarship 2006
Austria’s leading private disposal company, SAUBERMACHER, regards it as a challenge to contribute actively to a fruitful exchange between the areas of science, economy, technology and environmental protection.
The "Hans Roth Saubermacher Umweltstipendium" offers one option for this, which this year was awarded to three Austrian universities for the first time (Montanuniversität Leoben, Karl Franzens-Universität Graz, TU Wien).
The three scholarships are each granted € 2,000 and, on 22nd March 2006 at the Österreichische Abfallwirtschaftstagung 2006 [Austrian Convention for Waste Management] in the Austria Center Vienna, were awarded to young, up-and-coming researcher for particularly challenging theses or dissertations with a connection to environmental protection and waste management.
The award winners accepted the certificates with pleasure.
We wholeheartedly congratulate the winners!
Federal Minister, Elisabeth Gehrer, was also present at the event and gave away a few secrets. She is very pleased to be able to support such a project, particularly since Mrs. Gehrer took up her office in 1983 in the Vorarlberg Landtag [state parliament] in the Department for Waste Management. Consequently, as far as she is concerned, there is a strong connection between waste management and education.
