Saubermacher on course of expansion

Saubermacher is in the area of waste management and recycling one Austria’s leading companies in the federal provinces Styria, Carinthia, Upper Austria and Vienna. The company in close collaboration with the communities also services the industry and private sector. Saubermacher services 400 communities in 20 districts alone. Saubermacher is represented by 14 Joint Ventures outside Austria. The most important ones are in Slovenia, Croatia, Hungary and the Czech Republic.

Turnover € 136 millions
Saubermacher lastly generated a turnover of € 136 millions with 1,300 employees. The company operates in Austria own business sites in Graz (Headquarters), Vienna, Krems, Feldbach and Kapfenberg.

Acquisition of competitor Rumpold:
Austria has a new No. 1
By taking over the competing company Rumpold Austria gets a „new No. 1“ in the waste management industry. Rumpold employs 1,100 employees and generated last year’s turnover of € 65 millions (thereof about € 40 millions in neighbouring countries alone).United the consolidated companies have 2.400 employees and a total turnover of about € 200 millions.

„Saubermacher and Rumpold fit together perfectly: While Rumpold are an expert in the area of hazardous, solid and liquid waste in industry and commerce, Saubermacher cover disposal of domestic and commercial waste of communities and business enterprises. Rumpold operate in Austria three business sites Trofaiach, Unterpremstätten and Graz. Rumpold’s distributional emphasis lies in Eastern Europe, especially in the Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovenia and Croatia. Chance Central Europe
„Rumpold became big in Central Europe. Apart from the mentioned core countries Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovenia and Croatia, Rumpold are also represented in Macedonia and Serbia/Montenegro. All in all, Rumpold operate 35 business sites. The merger with Saubermacher is ideal for Rumpold particularly because of Rumpold’s contribution of foreign trade activities to the Saubermacher-Group. The size of the new group makes a lot much easier for Rumpold“ says Managing Director of Rumpold, DI Osman Erol.

Promising future
In Future, outsourcing of disposal and recycling services will be an even bigger issue. This applies to industry and commerce as much as to the communities to an increasing degree. Saubermacher meets the trend with their own „Saubermacher Outsourcing GmbH“.

In the range of disposal „industrial incineration“ - that is incineration of material in existing industrial plants such as in the cement industry - gains in importance. One successful example to be mentioned here is the ThermoTeam production plant (an enterprise of Saubermacher and Lafarge Perlmooser). Located in the Southern-Styrian region Retznei where high-caloric waste fractions are processed into high quality alternative fuel for the cement industry.

Turnover target
After one year of consolidating the new corporate group, Saubermacher (including Rumpold) plan the increase in turnover to reach the € 220 million barrier in 2007.
