Hans Roth Saubermacher Environment Award

Within the scope of the Envietech trade fair in Vienna, Saubermacher Dienstleistungs AG awarded the Saubermacher Environment Award to prize winners of the University of Mining Leoben, Vienna University of Technology and University of Graz. The prize carries a value of 6,000 Euros. The presentation was undertaken by the Austrian Minister for the Environment, DI Niki Berlakovich, together with the President of Vienna Economic Chamber, Councillor of Commerce Brigitte Jank and Hans Roth, CEO of Saubermacher.

Today, social and ecological commitment and the cooperation with research institutions are an important success factor for the economy. Saubermacher considers it a challenge to actively contribute to a fruitful exchange among the areas of science, economy, technology and environmental protection. In order to promote this, the Hans Roth Saubermacher Environment Award was launched and advertised at three Austrian universities (University of Mining Leoben, University of Graz, Vienna University of Technology). The three prizes carry a value of 2,000 Euros each and are awarded to young junior researchers for particularly outstanding theses or dissertations, resp., with a connection to environmental protection and waste management. Particular emphasis is placed on concrete suggestions and methods as well as originality and practicability for implementation and their economical benefit in everyday life. The prize winners are determined by an independent jury. Within the scope of the ceremony, the Austrian Minister for the Environment DI Berlakovich took a lot of time for the prize winners and appreciated the excellent achievements in his statement.

Hans Roth, the CEO of Saubermacher, highlighted in his justification for the award donation:

“Today, successful companies are not only characterised by good ideas and innovative projects. Every successful company also needs external incentives. Scientific findings are to give an impetus, which can be trend-setting for companies. Additionally, with the award, we also promote young graduates, who might become active in the area of waste management.”
