1990 - 1995
1990 Foundation of the Waste Disposal Services based in Krems * Saubermacher brings natural compost on the market, made from biological waste in its own compost plant, using the trade mark "Bodenschatz". * Saubermacher presents the environmental fairy tale book "So ein Mist in Swabidu" ("So much garbage in Swabidu"). * Foundation of the Saubermacher Slovenia. * 1991 The first Saubermacher chemical and physical plant to treat dangerous waste opens in Graz. * Saubermacher expands to Hungary. * First Saubermacher Biotope in Hungary. * First Saubermacher refuse collection vehicle with complete garbage weighing equipment is put into service in Austria. * Start of algae composting in Venice. * First reprocessing plant in Austria for refrigerators and fluorescent tubes comes into operation at Saubermacher. * Introduction of biological garbage collection in Graz.* Saubermacher becomes a regional partner of the newly founded society for packaging waste disposal, the ArgeV (Arbeitsgemeinschaft Verpackungsabfälle) * 1992 Saubermacher brings the new compost plant in Lannach into operation * Foundation of Saubermacher plants in Lannach, Graz-Puchstraße and St. Pölten. * Foundation of Saubermacher in Hartberg which is the first plant for checking through non-separated rubbish in Austria. * 1993 Opening of the Saubermacher sites in Croatia and the Czech Republic. * The first removal system for kitchen garbage is introduced in Austria by Saubermacher. * Saubermacher as regional partner for ArgeV, ARO and AGR supports the quick implementation of the new packaging regulations.
1994 Cooperation with WIBEBA and participation in the introduction of a complete removal system for night storage heaters with asbestos components. * 1995 Take-over of the firm Schauperl and Saubermacher becomes a share holder in SEEG. * Saubermacher is the first waste disposal firm in Austria to be awarded the quality certificate ISO 9002.
1996 - 2000
1996 Pilot project for the collection of electronic waste using containers for waste packaging is introduced. * Collection of old clothes starts * Collection of old bottle corks for the production of insulation material begins. * Start of the Saubermacher key account department called "Entsorgungsnetzwerk" ("disposal network") to build up Austria's nationwide waste removal services. * 1997 Purchase of the Krems firm, "Müll und Schrott" ("Rubbish and Scrap Metal") which specialises in the removal and recycling of scrap metal. * Foundation of the Mürztaler Saubermacher in Kapfenberg, in partnership with the local government of Kapfenberg * Saubermacher effects the complete take-over of the ARW (Altstoffrecycling Wien - Waste recycling Vienna). * Introduction of document destruction services using secure containers. * Introduction of the Saubermacher small sewage treatment plant. * 1998 ARW Altstoffrecycling Vienna becomes Saubermacher Services plc. * Take-over of Müll und Schrott customers in Vienna which go through Saubermacher Krems and Saubermacher Services plc. * New regional division between Saubermacher Krems and Saubermacher Services plc is put into effect. * Take-over of the waste disposal services in 21 municipalities from Haider bros. in the district of Liezen is put into effect and a plant is opened in Trieben. * ESÖ removal systems plc, which specialises in hospital waste disposal, is taken over by Saubermacher Services plc. * Start of the fluorescent tube recycling project with Philips (100% recycling of glass, metal and recently phosphorescent powder). * Start of the second hand shoe initiative in liaison with Delka throughout Austria. * The first plant in Klagenfurt in Carinthia is opened. * Saubermacher begins an initiative to promote the taking back of waste material and empty bottles to the central Spar warehouse in Maria Saal. * 1999 Take-over of Rudolf Beck and sons plc in Brunn am Gebirge, with 50 employees and about 60 Mio turnover is carried out. And so Saubermacher is present in the strategically important market in the south of Vienna, and the 20 year jubilee celebrations in Vienna, Krems and Graz take place. * Merger of the Lannach and Graz plants goes through and the business is set up in Puchstraße in Graz. * Hans Roth gets the "Environmental Manager of the Year" award from the minister for economic affairs, Dr. Hannes Farnleitner. * 2000 Start of a partnership with the local government of Mödling. The Mödling waste disposal services are partly privatised, so that Saubermacher in Mödling and the local government become joint shareholders. It started with 19 employees and, apart from Saubermacher in Hartberg and Mürztal, it is the biggest public-private partnership project in Austria. The Saubermacher Mödling partnership is the first of its kind in Lower Austria.
2001
In April, Saubermacher received the "Ökoprofit 2000" award from the city of Graz for its logistic project for the reduction of fuel consumption, traffic routes, and the transport fleet required to meet the demands of the waste disposal needs of the city, but nevertheless increase the volume of waste removal. * The Thermo-Team, a partnership between Lafarge Perlmooser AG and Saubermacher, a thermal user in the ARA-System (Altstoff Recycling Anlage-System - Waste Material Recycling Plant System) which contributes to an ecologically rational system of thermal exploitation of waste products, exists since the beginning of the year 2001 * In May, during the Saubermacher environmental expedition 2001, 4.000 litres of garbage were taken from the base camp of Mount Everest by Wolfgang Fasching and his mountaineering comrades using pack animals and one lorry for removal to Kathmandu * In June Saubermacher plc. in Villach was founded, and with this, the biggest partnership in Austria in the field of waste disposal business at present, came into being. Together with the city of Villach, Saubermacher made an innovative step towards a future with an ecologically oriented waste disposal policy * In September, the building of a controlled tip began, in liaison with the Hungarian town of Kecskemet. * In October, Saubermacher's director Hans Roth received the "Businessman of the Year" award for the service industry by Chancellor Mr. Schüssel in recognition for his outstanding contribution and excellent ideas for the environment. * In December, Saubermacher collects 25.000 used mobile phones for the charity "Licht ins Dunkel" (Bring Light into the Darkness), together with Niedermeyer and ORF (Austrian broadcasting corporation).
2002
In January,
* A 90 metre high chimney was demolished in an exemplary manner by the Böhm-Saubermacher consortium on the premises of Pilkington (glass production) in the course of deconstruction workings. All in all, 300.000 m³ solid concrete and steel were cleared away and disposed environmentally suitable.
In April,
* Frank Dicker, responsible for marketing and sales, was appointed member of the board.
* Saubermacher Mödling celebrated its 2nd anniversary.
In June,
* Saubermacher was awarded the title "specialist for waste disposal" in the framework of the VÖEB-meeting (association of waste disposal companies). Such a comprehensive certification including all 7 locations of Saubermacher, is unique in Austria in the field of waste management up to now.
* Saubermacher's new Website was presented in the Internet.
In July,
* Saubermacher Hellas Waste Management S.A. was founded in Athens/Greece together with the business partner Copelouzos.
* Hans Roth, chairman of the board was awarded the honorary title "Kommerzialrat" for his merits for the Styrian economy.
In August,
* 8000 litres of waste were collected by Saubermacher in the mountains of the Aussee country on the occasion of the 30-year-anniversary of the campaign "clean Alps" and within the framework of the helicopter world championship in Aigen/Ennstal.
In September,
* the Slovenian minister for the environment opened Saubermacher Letnik, our newly founded centre for waste treatment in Lenart/Slovenia.
* Saubermacher's new landfill in Kecskemét/Hungary was inaugurated.
* Saubermacher's employees subscribed money for Austrian municipalities affected by high-water.
In November,
* Saubermacher won in the category "most outstanding emerging entrepreneur in the field of employment promotion" of the last 25 years.
2003
In January,
* Saubermacher International has set up a new location in Velenje/Slovenia - the Private-Public-Partnership-company PUP-Saubermacher d.o.o.
In March,
* Saubermacher Ungarn Kft. has started the collection, disposal and landfilling of waste from 50.000 inhabitants in the region of Izsak after successful tendering.
In May,
* Saubermacher has arranged “IDEA 2003”, the corporate design competition in cooperation with the FH Joanneum for the degree program “Information Design”. The aim was to create a three-dimensional logo, labeling each Saubermacher location in the future. The best three ideas have been awarded a prize amounting to € 2.000,--, 1.000,-- and 500,--.
In June,
* ThermoTeam (a joint venture of Saubermacher and Lafarge Perlmooser) has opened the largest state-of-the-art plant in Austria for the production of alternative fuels in Retznei, in the South of Styria. With the realization of the plant, Lafarge Perlmooser provides the combustion capacities of its cement works and contributes considerably to the discharge of Styrian landfills. The use of ASB (treated substitute fuels) will lead to a medium-term reduction of fossil fuels, e. g. imported coal.
In July,
* Saubermacher's bio-waste facility in Waidhofen/Thaya has been awarded the official seal of quality for compost! Now, Saubermacher is counted among the four compost producers in Austria which are authorized to bear this seal.
In August,
* Saubermacher has relieved the national park “Hohe Tauern” (3.000 m altitude) of illegally deposited waste - a dump almost as large as a pitch - within the framework of the mission "Clean Alps 2004". Within 5 days, 45.000 l of waste have been collected with an effort and disposed by helicopters of the Federal Armed Forces and pack-animals.
In September,
* Saubermacher has been successful in tendering for the construction and operation of the Lovanja landfill close to Budva (Montenegro) together with the construction company Integral Indzenjering.
In October,
* Saubermacher has been granted the patent for the complete material recycling of acetyl-gas canisters containing asbestos and solvents. Together with Worthington-Cylinders and Oberascher the acetyl-gas canisters are recycled to reusable steel and inert slag (usable as construction material). Up to now, there has been no solution for the utilization of acetyl-gas-canisters throughout Europe!
In November,
* Saubermacher Ungarn has acquired a 50% participation in two Hungarian companies in the region round the western Lake Balaton: Zalai HUKE and Zala EURO
In December,
* Some employees of Saubermacher have been awarded a prize for their efforts during the flood in Lower and Upper Austria by the city of Steyr. The medal for the employees from Saubermacher Villach stands for eight 12-hour days, full of hard work in the alleys, basements, staircases and garages of Steyr.
2004

ThermoTeam has got the environmental award of
the Styrian government for the year 2003. Since the start-up of
Thermoteam, about 2.500 people from all over the world have visited
Retznei.
July
The city of Nagykanizsa has built a landfill financed
by the EU program PHARE and found a reliable operator with Saubermacher
Pannonia and the subsidiary NSP.
August
For the second time, Saubermacher has been responsible for the disposal of waste and furthermore of an illegal dumping in the national park “Hohe Tauern” in Austria within the framework of the campaign “clean Alps”.
Saubermacher has opened the first waste collection center in
the city of Hulín /Czechia.

Our high-tech splitting facility in Oberlaa/Vienna has been established. There, commercial waste is optimally prepared for recycling .

100 years of experience
Saubermacher and its consolidated companies have considerable
experience in the waste management industry for decades and provide
a wide range of products. The roots of Mödlinger Saubermacher
GmbH, where Saubermacher meanwhile has a holding, stretch back
to the year 1901 when the first sewage treatment plant of Central
Europe was built in Mödling.
More other Saubermacher companies can refer to almost 50 years
of experience in the waste management industry such as the subsidiary
company Saubermacher Komunala in Murska Sobota, Slovenia which
was founded in 1961. The company Komunala was transformed into
a joint venture with Saubermacher in 1991 and services currently
12 municipalities and 185 companies with approximately 70,000 inhabitants.
The roots of Villacher Saubermacher also stretch back to the 1960s.
The owner and founder of Saubermacher, Johann Roth, can look back
to decades of experience in the logistics area. The first transport
company of the family was founded in Gnas, Styria in 1947. An entirely
new system to separate and prevent waste was established by founding
the company Saubermacher in 1979.
Saubermacher not only has many years of experience but also the

The Saubermacher Dienstleistungs AG puts into service the first waste collection vehicle powered by natural gas. And with that Saubermacher underscores its environmental competence as a specialist for individual waste disposal solutions. Wien Energie and the Vienna Economic Chamber support the project.
* Saubermacher gets the nod in EU-wide PPP advertised bidding
Five communities have joined forces in the “Voitsberg Core Regional Alliance” in order to tender waste disposal on an EU-wide basis in the form of a PPP model. The Saubermacher Dienstleistungs AG emerged as the best bidder.
* Professional disposal of mercury fever thermometers through Saubermacher
The Ministry of the Environment and pharmacies want to make Austria’s households mercury-free. The traditional “Pharmacy Day” on 9 October 2007 is the start of a major exchange campaign for mercury fever thermometers. Saubermacher will take over the professional disposal in this connection.
